Texas Ren Fest

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my ticket to the Texas Renaissance Festival include admission to King Midas’ Masquerade Ball? Does my invitation to the Ball include admission to the Festival?

No.  The Texas Renaissance Festival and the King Midas Masquerade Ball are independent events.  Invitations to King Midas’ Masquerade Ball are sold separately from Festival admissions

Is there an age requirement for admission to King Midas’ Masquerade Ball?

Yes.  All guests must be age 21 or older. A photo ID will be required.

What time does the Masquerade Ball start?

The Ball runs 8pm to 1am, every Saturday night of the 40th Annual Texas Renaissance Festival, October 11-November 30, 2014.

Doors open to Masquerade Ball Invitation holders at 8pm sharp!  Golden Upgrade Invitation holders should arrive beginning 7pm for a celebratory reception with King Midas at 7:30pm.

How do I purchase a VIP Golden Upgrade Invitation?

You may purchase a Golden Upgrade for an additional $95 per person when you order Masquerade Ball Invitations.   Guests may order invitations beginning February 17 by phone at 800-458-3435, or online.  The number of Golden Upgrades available per performance is limited, so act quickly.

Can I decide to purchase a Golden Upgrade Invitation at later date?

Yes.  You may purchase Masquerade Ball Invitations now and convert them to Golden Upgrade Invitations at a later date, while supplies last. Again, the number of Golden Upgrades available per performance is limited.  Order early for best date selection and greatest savings.

Can you explain the camping/parking pass?

Absolutely!  The Masquerade Ball takes place within the Fields of New Market Campground, which requires a $20 camping/parking permit per vehicle to enter.  In addition to special event parking for the Masquerade Ball, your per-vehicle permit covers a full weekend’s enjoyment of the Festival’s superb campground facilities.

I won tickets to attend the Masquerade Ball during the 2013 Texas Renaissance Festival.  How do I claim them?

Contest winners should contact the Ticket Office by phone at 800-458-3435 as early as possible to select their preferred Masquerade Ball date and purchase their weekend camping/parking pass.  While supplies last, winners will also have the option to convert their Masquerade Ball Invitations to Golden Upgrade Invitations for $95 per person.

Do I have to wear a costume?

Yes. Masquerade attire and a mask are required for entry.  Guests are bid to appear in a festive costume, wearing a mask or face paint disguise to conceal their identity.  Ball costumes and masks may reflect any period or fantasy, including – but not limited to – classical, renaissance or modern formal wear.

Any ensemble devised to fascinate and delight is welcome.  Follow your dreams. Let your imagination run wild.  Your choices will be respected and admired. The Court of King Midas will serve as final arbitrator of taste and decorum.  As hosts of the Masquerade, they reserve the right to require additions or alterations to any ensemble likely to dismay guests or offend All-Powerful Deities in attendance.

Are there any requirements on masks?

Only that one must be worn.  Any artistic medium -- fabrics, leathers, feathers, face paint and more -- may be used to fashion your fantasy disguise.  Whether tied on, mounted on a stick or painted on, your creation creates the magic of the Masquerade Ball, where all are equal beneath the mystery of a mask!

What is the Weapons Policy?

We do not allow concealed weapons on Festival grounds. Any swords, rapiers, edged or pointed, etc. that are worn as a part of your costume MUST BE SHEATHED AND PEACE TIED. You can secure them with leather straps or zip ties. No unsecured weapons will be allowed into the Ballroom.
